Nature Sustains Me: Finding Balance Through Time in Nature

A Reflection Gratitude for Nature

In a time when technology runs the world, I am grateful for every opportunity to step away from it. Immersing myself in nature keeps me conscious and self-aware.

I connect to my true self when I retreat to nature. Spending time in the splendor of natural environments is renewing. It gives me a chance to recall where I am from and appreciate that I too am part of nature.

When I go outdoors, I unplug from technology. I feel the air against body and moving around me, I close my eyes and listen to the sounds around me. Connecting in this way is therapeutic.

Being able to listen to the flow of water, the trees moving in the wind, and the birds chirping remind me that I share the world with other beings. Being present in those moments energizes me and brings me a sense of calm, peace, and connection.

I do my part by cleaning up trash and debris that people leave in our natural spaces. It is the least that I can do to help the Earth.

As I hike through the mountains, I am careful to avoid stepping on plants or insects and leaving more traces of my presence than necessary. I acknowledge the plants and animals all around me and their contributions to their environment. I avoid taking for granted the life all around me.

Nature Sustains Me: Finding Balance Through Time in Nature

Today, my time with nature is a blessing because it keeps me conscious. I recognize the importance of other lifeforms on this planet and how we all connect and affect each other. Every life serves a unique purpose in the world.

My duty is to support life and have gratitude for all existence.

Self-Reflection Questions:

  1. Do I view myself as part of nature? Do I feel connected to nature or separated?
  2. How much time do I spend in the present moment while in nature?
  3. In what ways does spending time with nature contribute to my overall well-being?
