"Bikes Kill Cancer" with Jay Middleton

In this episode, we have Jay Middleton, cancer survivor, longtime athlete, and lover of all things outdoors to discuss keeping perspective, keeping it lite, redefining what’s really important and how he now approaches each day.

Jay was diagnosed with neck and oral cancer at the end of 2019. His particular cancer was caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). In February 2020 he underwent a five-hour surgery for a bilateral neck dissection and then afterward endured six weeks of radiation treatment Monday through Friday. His last day of radiation treatment was on May 18th.

Jay has spent the last six months trying to bring a focus to the power of being outdoors and the positive impact it can have on not only those fighting cancer but everyone. The ability to get outside to hike and ride his bike during his cancer treatment kept Jay motivated and energized during some tough times.

You can follow along on his outdoor adventures and fundraising endeavors for cancer prevention and research at his Instagram account @BikesKillCancer.
